Electrical Stimulation

         Electrical stimulation, sometimes referred to as E-stim or stim, is a therapy sometimes used here at Bowhay Chiropractic along with the chiropractic adjustment.  Electirical stimulation is beneficial mainly in acute care for pain management and muscle relaxation, but E-stim also helps to reduce muscle spasm, decrease inflammation, and can be used in the rehabilitation process following injury.  

         The most common form of electrical stimulation used at Bowhay Chiropractic is called interferential.  Interferential is when 4 pads are used and placed in a square pattern over the area of complaint.  The electrical current penetrates beneath the skin into deeper musculature and other tissue and helps to relax muscles, reduce pain and speed the healing process.
